interesting, never heard of it either. From what I know is that chicken liver is a killer bait for catfish.
Maybe marshmallows with chicken liver would work nicely too 😊

It would be interesting if someone "in the know" could shed some light.

Meal worms are good for many fish...birds like them too. I cannot think of any reason why it would not work and depending on the "flavour" of the marshmallow, I can think of reasons why it would work.
