Fishing @ the cut

Meant to be a 4 star day, not a nibble, there were 4 of us, tried everything

that's what I'd call bad luck :-)
I guess there weren't any fish around then.
Did you use a fish finder to locate the fish?
Oh..It was meant to be a 4 star day...Umm so what star day was it ?

So 4 of you tried everything ?? Did at least one of you try a different location ?

I have said it before and I dare say I will say it again...I could toss lures into a bath tub all day long and not catch a thing. Even on a 4 star day during the major times, all day long I could cast lures into that bath tub and not get even the slightest nibble 😊
Groyne Fishing, could see them but obviously not hungry, about 2 people fishing from same area. also luckless
Different location not an option, salmon and mullet running, but not to us.
Bathtubs are not necessarily bad if the weather is perfect, the company is good, hey WTF
Mullet can be very difficult. If they were schooling and on the move, they might not be eating at all.

Salmon can be very picky. I was catching salmon in Victoria a couple of months ago. They were in a gutter about 10 meters wide. I had to cast smack in the middle of the gutter, nothing else worked. I even tried drifting a pilchard into the gutter with no results. The only spot getting bites was within 2 meters of the center of the gutter.

But at other times they seem to be everywhere...some times you could cast into the sand dunes and get a hook up. :)

Sounds to me like it was just one of those times when location was the key.
What is biting at the Cut today and what are they taking
Hey guys how many of us go on the 4 star day and catch minimal
I go out any chance i get weather permitting of course
And some of my best days have been on a 1 star day going out in the morning tomorrow 2 stars ill move around from spot to spot i dont stay long if they arent biting
The 40 cm king george whiting is my new target fish after catching a 38.5 cm fish among the 12 last adventure
Never bagged out but hey 24 fillets is a mighty feed and get shared with family n friends
Love the fishing
Tight lines guys
I'll go out any chance I get as well, but especially so on a 5 star day :-)
Have also caught heaps of fish on 1 or 2 star days. But if fishing is tough an extra star is always a good incentive ;-)
5 star day...Oh I see what you are up to...Trying to sneak an extra star onto your flag and come over here (probably by boat or kayak) and thieve all our King George Whiting...ah,,,I see what you are upto....haha 😊
LOL - you got me
You cannot get past the guard dog...It might look like a lonely Hills Hoist..a solitary clothes line...But there is a true blue Aussie red dog just waiting to pounce any and all Kiwi invaders trying to pinch a star :)

You have 4...We have 6...We have King George Whiting...you have, well,  green muscles haha 😊
I don't think we have green muscles, that would be quite weird.
Maybe green mussels, hmm yummy  😊
haha...Everyone else got the play on words :)

For failing to realise that "muscles" was intended, you do not get promoted to 5 stars...sorry ;( Please try again next year 😊
noo waaay!

Incredible !!!

You would have a hard time hiding her behind a clothes line !!! haha

See children ? This is what will happen if you try to claim an extra star...You will turn green and look just like my little sister haha

Nah...just kidding...My little sister is not green. She looks just like that, but not green haha.
Hi Tradie141,

38.5 is pretty good. Look forward to seeing some pics of the 40 when you get it 😊
Yeah, went out when the major cycle was supposed to be happening, I was one of many who caught SFA,
yeah I don't always catch fish either but more often than not I do.
Sometimes it's just not happening even on a 4 star day. It's still fishing and not catching :-)
Luckily it is like that - imagine every time you go out you'd have a 100% chance of catching something based on a forecast.
How boring would that be. One of the fun parts of fishing is that there is and will always be a good dose of luck involved.
A forecast can only increase your chances, but can't guarantee success.
Just to clarify, The Cut you are talking about...Is that The Cut in WA ?
Yes, Dawesville Cut
Will do bud fingers crossed i bag a few
