Are you fishing from the shore/jetty or from a boat? Is the area you're fishing pretty bright during night time?
If it's near a city with lots of boat traffic and artificial light, it might affect the bite times.

Or perhaps there were just no fish around on that day. Maybe somebody else caught them already.
