finally got some time to go!

booyah says:
😛 Well I finally got to go out last Saturday and the fishing wasnt fast and
furious but everything we caught had "shoulders" on em. All in the 20" class.
The other way we describe these stripers is......... "DELICIOUS" I placed the photos in the "photos" section.

awesome - I was getting worried about you, that you don't get enough fishing done anymore ;-)

What did you do with the photos - can't see any 😊
I tried putting them into the phot bank with the yahoo and it
didn't take so I re entered them on firefox. I think they are
in there now. What else is new?
Thanks! The lake has cleaning stations at all major launch areas
and this particular one is one that has survived pretty well,
so this is where I go 98% of the time. Even thought there is a
1 mile down hill walk to the dock.....and the same uphill from
the dock to parking area upon return. It was a beautiful November day around 77 degrees no wind and just calm water. For
me its not always about the fish sometimes its just nice to go
out and fall asleep in the sun and if you catch a fish its just
icing on the cake. I usually have one of my sons with me when I
go but this trip I went solo.....very relaxing. The main battery on the boat crapped out on me so I have to replace that, But I
cant wait to go again. Y'all take care!!
thats very handy to have a cleaning station at the boat ramp.
I always have to do it at home and end up in a big stinky mess, with scales flying all over my yard.

The upside is that I can bury all the fish waste in the garden and my veggies just grow crazy on that.

You wouldn't want to fall asleep in the sun for too long over here in NZ ;-)
Afterwards you might be mistaken for some new species of lobster.

I've been to busy to go fishing lately. But I think I'm gonna head out end of this week.
Weather and fishing forecast looks good.
 Hey mark, wow have been so busy working I cant find time to get on here. Ive been workin my butt off so much Im trying to get one of my sons a job with a company I work with. Might get me a break or two so I can go fishing. I have only been out one time just this May and it was an ok day as far as the catch goes. I plan on going again June 21 so we will see what happens. sorry I have not been able to do much for the FR site just too much work. I will post anything of interest after I go fishing. Havnt heard anything from the girl in Florida so I guess she is doin ok once she got started, guess that's a good thing! Well hope all is GOOD on ya! talk to you soon.!
😠 Well yes I went after the local news said 105 deg. and slight winds from the south.....30 mph winds are NOT slight in my opinion... but I was at the lake for 1 hour had the boat in the water for 30 mins and caught one fish
Makes me mad to drag the tub to the water and its blowin so hard. Anyway the one fish that hit my lure hit like a cement truck. See pic will try again maybe next week soooooooo busy at work!!! stay well!

Hi booyah

Good to hear from you. Bummer the wind picked up so much - but at least you caught a fish ;-)
Hope you'll find some quiet time soon when your son takes over some of the work.
Not good to be tooo busy to go fishing :-)

Must be pretty hot at your end of the world at the moment, eh?

Everything is going well over here. Although I didn't have so much time to go fishing either.
I got myself a new kayak a while ago and I'm very happy with it. Can now paddle longer distances without the fear of sinking in the middle of the ocean. Been trying to catch more top water fish by trolling lures. But not very successful with that so far.
I'm doing really well with soft baits, fishing for snapper and other bottom fish.
But I guess I'm too slow on my kayak for trolling lures efficiently and to cover enough ground.

I wanna catch some kingfish but only got one so far on softbaits.
Might have to try a different approach to catch them more consistently.

Just don't feel like mucking around with cutting up bait or using live bait on the kayak and prefer lures.

cheers
Mark
B) So here is my trick for hard baits you need a floating 6" jointed bait mimicking the local anchovies or mullet or what you have and it needs a diving lip. you don't have to go really fast and when you get a hit you can toss in a "salas" bait the barracuda and mackerel family cant resist these in blu/white or chrome/blu. I will send you a pic of 3 of the best topwater lures we have and maybe you can find a couple they really work well. glad U finally got a new ride, it sucks always wondering ..... the pic I have attached is a 6" example of what you are looking for you might need to enlarge it some to see it clearly. will send some other pics of the other lures mentioned. Good luck my friend !!
B) By the way Im talking about lures we use in salt water ....some of these work ok in the striper fishing realm also.... even in fresh water.
