This has been a dismal start to the season this year. Water temp is still 10 degrees colder than this time last year. Here it is june 1st in ohio and the crappie and white bass haven't spawned out yet.Wet,windy, and pounded by many coldfronts for the last couple months.
Trip #6 today was my best troll of the season. 2 keeper saugeye and the biggest was a 23" fish ohio qualifier. They are on the skinny side this year. Seems like bandit 100's are their preference this season. Of the 8 keepers I've gotten this season, they are averaging over 18" each. Also a 3lb channelcat.
Lots of dinks in the 14" range so there should be tons of keepers the next couple years. A couple 2-3 years ago,the odnr had an issue with a disease that the female walleye eggs contained from the maumee,so they had to go to the smaller inland lakes for the females which resulted in 1/2 production. They got that issue fixed a couple years ago and the amounts of 14" dinks are the results of the average 500,000 stocked fingerlings per year.
