Hi there
Not sure if the times are wrong ;-)
The calculation for the fishing times follows the solunar theory.
So they could only be wrong if some parameters of the calculation were wrong.
The best way to check that would be to compare sunrise and moonrise times from your local newspaper with the sun and moonrise times at fishingreminder.
If they don't match then the calculations are wrong and I will fix that straight away.
You gotta keep in mind that fishing times are no guarantee to catch fish.
No one can guarantee that - there is more to fishing then just picking the right time.
They are an indication of when your chances are best according to the solunar therory.
It doesn't mean you can't catch a fish outside of the fishing times or on a poor day.
Also you can't judge the fishing times correctness after on or two fishing trips.
In general the fishing times should increase your fishing success over time.
Its like playing poker. You can play the game based on luck only and every now and then you will win - but you win more consistently over time by calculating your chances.
But then, if you base your fishing only on fishing times and day ratings, ignoring other influences like weather, tides, seasonal changes, etc then they wont work either.
For example where I fish. If we have high season and fish are spawning you can catch a fish every day no matter if its a poor or excellent rating and also pretty much any time of the day. This goes on for a month or so.
But when fishing becomes more tough and fish are picky then it becomes quite important to take everything into consideration. fishing times, moon phase, sunrise, rating, tides, location, etc to get a good feed.
Location is also obviously super important.
If there are no fish around, then it doesn't matter if the day rating is best or you fish at major or minor times - you won't get a bite.
The thing is that every location might work different on different days.
So it's good to be agile and be able to try different spots, if one spot wont produce results on a specific day.
Another thing that I find very helpful, when fishing gets a bit tough, is to find days
where either a major or minor time comes an hour or so after sunrise or an hour before sunset.
Then start fishing just before sunrise into the major minor time. This doubles up your chances, providing that other factors like weather are right.
Basically it's a good idea to combine as many favorable factors as possible when picking the time/day to go fishing, rather then base your decision only on day rating or time.
I sometimes go out on a fair day rating, if tides, sunrise, major times, weather line up and catch my limit in no time.
But in the end its a personal choice - for some people fishing times work great ( me included) then others don't think much of them.
To really judge if they work for you, its best to keep a fishing diary and
judge over a period of time if your fishing improves. I bet it will.
I catch most of my fish during the fishing times and it saves me heaps of dead time on the water.
But if you find that the moonrise, sunrise time is wrong for your location, you'll need to contact me so that this can be fixed.
Then the times would definitely ( mathematically speaking ) be wrong.
