How and when can I catch Salmon in Credit View Lake Ontario mouth

Hello all,

A few weeks back went fishing with a friend and what was supposed to be a beer drinking opportunity has turned into a passion. Now been fishing 4 weeks nearly everyday. Up north on the smaller lakes like Rice lake, Oak lake have caught reasonable size bass. But nearer home on the Credit View river and Lake Ontario - Nothing. Tried everything from the 4:00 am drill to late night. Been using worms, spinner or spoon. The question is are there any better spots near Mississauga? Is the spot I have been going to poor as I do see a lot of canoes and boats through out the day? Also what bait should I use if I want to catch Salmon. Much thanks to all.

Hi Ronmaitra,

Welcome to Fishingreminder and welcome to fishing !

I don't know a lot about salmon. But I would have thought what you are trying is OK. Worms, shallow diving lures, maybe poppers and I would definitely try spoon lures. Yes, I know you were using those for bass, but I don't see why you couldn't target salmon the same way. Maybe someone with greater knowledge than I might help with some tips.

Yes, boat traffic does affect fishing. Some local knowledge is what you need. Since I have never been there I don't know. But someone here might have some local knowledge.

I can help you out though...I will have a couple of beers for you just to keep your heart pumping. I will do that shortly for you so just hang in there...
