MOTOR OIL SPRAY ON LURES

Hingol says:
I saw it on Youtube that the artificial lures are sprayed with Motor Oil. Has anybody ever tried this? Does it really help to attract fish?

I think not...Do you have a link to the youtube video ?
Fishing is so god damn addictive, can't forget thinking about it
LOL....Hingol
I've sprayed WD40 on my lines and reels so the salt water does not ruin them. Even while fishing. That does not seem to make the fishing better or worse. I personally wouldn't use motor oil though.
Don't let the FWC see you doing it .That's polluting . I spray WD-40 and it works fine to get rid of the human scent and also stops the lures from rusting . WD-40 is a very fine coat of oil that will not harm anything .

The formula for WD-40 is a trade secret. No one out side of the company really knows what is in it.

However, the company claims on the safety data sheet, that it contains 25% petroleum based oil...In other words, engine oil.
There is a big difference between engine oil and WD-40 .

WD-40 is made of :
  • 50% "aliphatic hydrocarbons". The manufacturer's website claims this ratio in the current formulation cannot accurately be described as Stoddard solvent this is alcohol , a similar mixture of hydrocarbons.[8]

  • <25% petroleum base oil. Presumably a mineral oil or light lubricating oil.

  • 12–18% low vapor pressure aliphatic hydrocarbon. Reduces the liquid's viscosity so that it can be used in aerosols. The hydrocarbon evaporates during application.

  • 2–3% carbon dioxide. A propellant which is now used instead of the original liquefied petroleum gas to reduce WD-40's flammability.

  • <10% inert ingredients. Only 25 % is oil and it is diluted down with 50% alcohol . The thin layer of oil is less then what people put into the rivers and lakes and oceans with there motors on there boats .
