Yellow Fingers...

Hi everyone,

It's not often that I find I need to ask a question these days...Old age does that...But I have one to ask...

I picked up some nice, really nice, gear yesterday which just happened to be at an equally nice price. One of the items is a Rovex 2000 Air Strike. It has never been used...Trust me, I know what to look for and can say this little reel has never been used! However, it was spooled with a yellow coloured braid. It had no backing but did have a leader. The leader to braid knot looks good. Which makes me think the previous owner knew what they were doing but not full bottle on the finer points.

My question...(even tough the reel clearly has never been used I am still going to strip it down and do a full service on it). When I took the braid off it left a yellow stain on my hand. Being such a small reel, I simply "fingered" the braid onto an empty can, as shown in the pics.

I have only just (last 3 or 4 years) started using braid. Is it normal for braid to leave colour stains like that?

I have no idea of the brand of the braid. It is yellow and very smooth compared to the eBay stuff I have been playing with.

Thanks in advance
Neil

PS...My nice price was...

Value on line from bricks and mortar shops = $980 to $1,200 (depending on which store)

eBay prices = $460 to $740 (depending on which seller)

My offer was $70...and the gear is now mine!...Right place at the right time...But why are my fingers yellow?
