BIG FISH LOST

Hingol says:
Wondering the size of the fish hooked yesterday at dusk while trolling using my vintage Daiwa 400h trolling reel. . The heavy trolling rod was bent with the force and was nearly pulling the small boat. The line on the reel was nearly in the end  and the boat was taken towards the pull. It was like something that we see on YouTube. It took me nearly 45 minutes to fight this giant fish but in the end it spit the lure out of its mouth. and I lost it. This happened while trolling parallel to the shoreline and not very far from the shore.

Interesting...

There are plenty of things in the water capable of pulling a boat. But not many that would take a small lure.

I once got hooked up to a manta ray that snapped my 30lb line like cotton. It was foul hooked and I watched the whole thing. It was crystal clear water at Shellharbour boat harbour. I had just cast and I was watching the bait sink when the ray came along and ran straight into my bait. It was hooked on the wing and it just kept going.
Yeah me too, hooked the wing of a mantra, was able to make ground on it for about 30 seconds and then the line snapped.
had that same problem in frankston victoria off the pier too, it wasn’t a snag just heavy weighted but it snapped a 99lb braided line so whatever it was, was definitely big
Good story, big one gets away 🐳
