Drone fishing 101 - quick and cheap way to use a drone for surf fishing

Hi everybody,

Over the last couple years I've been using a DJI Phantom drone for surf fishing.
It had an electronic bait release mechanism which became corroded and broke.

So to still be able to use my drone for fishing, I quickly made up a cheap and easy manual release hook.
Turns out it works much better and is easier to use than the old expensive electronic release.

check out my latest video on how to setup a drone for fishing with a simple and cheap home made release hook.

That is a good idea :)

You could make one using some wire or a wire coat hanger. Then you would have no air drag at all. You could use stainless steel wire...Or cheaper and easier to work with would be anodized aluminum wire. Most good plant nurseries will stock aluminum wire because it is used for growing bonsai.

Yes, aluminium would be the way to go. They make quick thick wire for large bonsai trees and it wont rust and its light weight.
Good idea, I might give that a try once the shops are open again.
Although the plastic foot works quite good so far and didn't cost me anything 😊
It was the drilling holes to reduce air drag that got me thinking...

An old coat hanger would cost nothing to try.
