SPINNING REEL

Hingol says:
Hey itsa, A friend presented me a Kastking  megatron 6000 spinning reel. The reviews and specs mention that it can handle big saltwater fish but it's size is quite small as compared to my Daiwa gs9 and Penn btl 8000.

The kastking is light and I have used it with my GT TERROR 10' rod for tireless lure casting. Do you think it can handle a 20 kgs fish? I have put 30lb braid on it and use it with a wire leader most of the time.

I am not familiar with Kastking.

All geared reels are only as good as the skills and abilities of the user.

Several years ago I watched a man land a 15kg carp on the Shoalhaven River. He used a 4 foot cheap childrens rod from Kmart with 8lb line. The rod and reel was just a toy designed for 4 to 8 year olds.

Yes, any 6000 size reel in the right hands will land a 20kg fish.
Thanks Itsa, After reading a lot, getting myself a Penn spinfisher vi 8500 live liner. Its specs are unmatched for its reasonable price. Preparing myself for a trip to the Astola Island (Check Google Earth/youtube) for GTs on poppers. Let's see.

Wanted to go shore casting early morning tomorrow but the wind is 13 knots. Would it be okay under such windy condition.
13 knots is not bad. Depending on the location it would be worth a try.
