Spanish Mackerel

Hingol says:
Hi Itsa, firstly I'm surprised that Pakistan is not mentioned on your list of countries of favourite fishing.

Pakistan has a coastline of about 1500 kms where any Angler can enjoy carrying nearly all kinds of fish including tuna, sailfish, swordfish, marlin, barracuda,  barramundi, lumberjack, GT etc.

Since I live in Karachi, the favourite closest spot is the newly built China Port of Karachi. Else deep sea near and around Charna Island (Google Earth) and the about 2 kms underwater reef 10kms towards the NW of this island.  This reef is home for pretty good size Spanish Mackerel, Tuna, barramundi, barracudas and sighting of whale sharks at times.

Continental shelf near Ormara and around Astola Island where I am planning to go this season.

Caught this Mackerel at dusk by trolling with deep rapala.ImageImage

Hi Hingol,

Good to hear from you :). That is one nice looking mack you have there.

I see you are almost about to hit the 100...Here in Australia we call it hitting the tun (or ton or tone). I might have a chat with Mark see if we can't send you a T-Shirt !! Of course, you have to hit the tun first, but it is only six posts away. I am going to chat with Mark today or tomorrow and I will be sure to suggest a T for you. :)

Pakistan....First off, I am the Moderator. Mark is the Owner and Admin. Mark will read this, but I will raise this issue with Mark anyway. As Moderator I have no access or control over the web site or App. My job is to stop and block the nasty people....and I think I do a pretty good job at it even if I do say so myself :):)

Compared to me, Mark is quite the jet-setter. I have no idea where he is. Last I heard he was lost in Cambodia trying to dodge dengue fever and catch carp....Apparently he did catch carp. Lets just hope he did not catch dengue !! 😊
All hunters and anglers are crazy people to risk their lives to satisfy their desires. My best wishes to mark and good luck to him. ???
PS...Nice sunset too 😊
Hi guys,

I'm still alive. Managed to catch a few nice carp in Korea recently.
Instead of Dengue fever in Cambodia I just caught a bad flu in Korea, despite vaccination earlier this year.
And as luck will have it only a few days before my long flight home.

If I survive that flight, I'll sort out a T-shirt for you Hingol.

The list with fishing places on the bottom of the main page is generated from the amount of visitors we get.
There are not that many visitors from Pakistan.

cheers

now back to bed with some paracetamol
Hey Mark, good to hear from you and that you are feeling better The fact is that since I had the opportunity of going to a Convent School where the teachers/nuns were from Ireland. I have studied and lived in the U.S.A. for a while and therefore know english equally well as my mother tongue being Balochi. I am an ethnic Baloch.

I wanted to paste your website in a group that I will do, but most of the guys have problem with the English Language and you may not get many posts except pictures. The guys are doing pretty good and catching large quantities of good size fish mostly by chumming. They purchase about 20-30 kilos of mullet that is cut and thrown in the water by someone deputed to do so. The big fish are gradually attracted to swim toward the boat where the angler attaches a live bait to the hook to enjoy a lucky day of fishing. They also catch Squid by jigging and use them as live bait.

Like the Mayoris, the Baloch of the Coastal belt of Balochistan also have their own method of assessment and fish prediction. My nephew did a detailed research on it very recently and I am waiting to read his report.

Take care....
