There is a free camping area at Lake Burrumbeet that looks OK.

I just had a closer look.

There is nothing listed in Camps8. I don't have Camps9.

But Wkicamps has 3 camp grounds listed. The south ground has a contact phone number listed 136 186. But, they say no tents allowed.

There are 2 camp grounds listed further north on the west side of Lake Burrumbeet. No contact phone number. One is listed as Lake Burrumbeet and the other is Red Gum Point.

All 3 give Ballarat Council as the contact - http://www.ballarat.vic.gov.au/

All 3 are free. Phone coverage, fishing, boating, suitable for caravans etc. None of them have toilets listed and you might have to take your own water...It is close enough to Ballarat, just take a drive out there and have a look.
