Yeah. I thought the same thing. But apparently the butter clam is different.
Saxidomus Gigabtea...Common name is Washington Clam or Butter Clam.
Pipi (pronounced pip-ee) is what we have. Name comes from Maori (New Zealand). Found only in Australia and New Zealand.
The butter clam is most commonly "harvested" at about 10cm (4 inches). Which would make the above bucket very, very large, or the clams very very small.
They certainly look the same as pipi in the above photo.
