Lightning

It is often a tragic event that brings an issue to mind.

Some of you would have seen or read the news over the weekend of a young woman taken from us by lightning in Melbourne. Her boyfriend, also struck, is in a stable condition and is expected to survive.

I just happen to know the family, or at least some members of the family. I would like to express my deepest sympathies and condolences.

Please, people, please, remember what you are holding in your hands...It might look like a fishing rod or fishing pole, but it is just a lightning rod. One of the largest groups of people killed by lightning are fishermen. For as  long as I can remember I have always followed the saying "if you can hear thunder take cover".

Thank You for the reminder.
"if you can hear thunder take cover".

Sincere condolences to family and friends. I too lost a friend in the NT due to lightning striking his carbon tipped fishing rod. I also read of 2 separate incidences of people being struck at a nearby beach while fishing. Please take the above message seriously. No amount of fish is worth dying for.
I have a 7' spinning rod that has a warning about this on the rod.It must be carbon as well.
