RAINBOW TROUT

I can honestly say, The other day was one of my best days I've had recently for rainbow trouts.
I was legit killing it, As in like every time i'd cast out in a few moments i had something on my line.
I normally use powerbait and other live bait but it seems like 3"8cm power trout worms bubble gum works the best so far.
My setup: It's as basic as you can get, SPL 1101 with 4LB fluorocarbon, Single size 8 hook, 3/0 split shot sinker.
Bait: 3"8cm power trout worms bubble gum wacky rigged.
Any suggestions or advice on setups/rigs/bait on rainbow trout would be greatly appreciated.

Hi angealies,

Welcome to Fishing Reminder :)

You want suggestions and advice? Sounds to me that if you keep doing what you are doing, it wont be to long and you will be giving the advice and suggestions !!

I don't know if I would call an Ugly Stik "as basic as you can get"...It is a bloody good rod. To load it with 4LB line and actually catch fish with it, calls for some respect :)

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Tight lines mate 😊
Thanks for the welcome, Ah yes the last time i went fishing was when my nephew and i used spin-casting rods and fished for catfish but that was many years ago! "Those rods were awful lol"
I'm now 25 and hes 21 and he fishes all the time and I've been out the game for years now.
About a month ago he wrote me and said he was heading off to fish, I told him that's something i'd like to get into again but since i haven't done it for a while i'd be pretty bad.
He then recommend me to head to Walmart and pick up an ugly stik because "They're good cheap rods"
After thinking about it for awhile, I remembered i was given a walmart gift card by his mom for the holidays and now knew what i could use it for.
With that being said, I went there found my SPL 1101 for about 25$ with everything included and picked up some powerbait and it costed me nothing, I was ready to fish.

Overall, I've been having a blast with this rod + setup and really enjoy being back out there and teaching my little sister how to fish!
