Cool/Cold Weather

DougMo says:
I can't seem to figure out were the fish are now that the weather has turned cool and cold. Any tips on catching bass, crappie, and trout in a lake as the the mercury drops?

I went today and landed a nice crappie, but it was the first fish I'd caught in three weeks or so.

Hard to say without being there. But at a guess, I would think they have changed their food. They would have been eating insects and things in the warmer months. Might now be eating worms and the like.
I agree. With the cold coming they would want protein to store fat. I've been using night crawlers though the warmer months. But now, it's like they've stopped eating. Very confusing.

Fishing is nothing but the study of the habits of fish. But suddenly I'm stumped.
