Just wondering if there's anyone on this site from or near Gravenhurst, Ont. Canada ?

Hi !

I joined in Sept. 2013, and use the fishingreminder calendar for best days and times on a regular basis.  I've jump onto the forum topics once in a while, and see that there's people from around the world here.... which is great ! Very interesting.

I fish by myself, mostly fish Kahshe Lake in Kilworthy, Ont.  I'm mainly out for pickerel, and bass if the water's cooler. We also have perch, northern pike, and some big @ss muskies. I have fished Lake Muskoka, and one year caught the record Northern Pike for the season. I taught my kids the sport,  and my son, at age nine, landed  a spot as a contender with Ontario Bass Masters for kids. We went to Toronto for the Ontario finals, where he placed "just shy of" being eligible for the North America finals, held in Louisiana, United States, that year!  Just like the "big one that got away"  so close and yet so far!

I am just wondering if there's anyone out there from my area, that I can chat with on a "local" basis .?.?.... maybe even a (whispering here..) lol,,,, a woman ?!?!:woot:
Also, I'm not sure how to navigate the site to get e-mails in response to something I post. Can anyone help me out there?

Hoping someone will respond,

Sounds like you are doing quite well on the fishing scene.

Email alerts should be automatic. You should also be getting a daily update of all new posts.
Hi itsaboat ! Thx for responding!  I did get automatic messaging for your email, but I don't receive msg's for new updates etc. What am I doing wrong ?
I don't think you are doing anything wrong.

Mark is the Admin around here. You might see him as MarkT or his Facebook login name, which is Mark Taz something...He is a New Zealander, a Kiwi, but despite that he is not a bad bloke :)

Mark is the one to look into why you are not getting daily updates. He will read this, when he gets a break from catching fish. So just hang in there and I am sure it will get sorted out.

EDIT: Mark Totzske....and he still hasn't fixed the smiley faces !!! :) :)
Hi itsaboat !

I DID get an alert for a new email from you. Guess I was just being impatient.  I laughed at your comment about..."when Mark takes a break from fishing"..:D

Thanks for responding again !

ladyandalure

Hey itsaboat - well at least some of the simile faces are working now 8-)
Been too busy lately - but looks like I'll be having some time soon to dig in and fix the rest :P

happy fishing!

Thanks for replying Mark.!
So you're finally taking a break.... good for you !..... What.... too many fish to clean now?   LOL
We've had a lot of rain here in Muskoka lately, and harvesting a bumper crop garden has kept me busy.

BUT... I bailed out the little tin tippy tonight... so I'm ready to go now.   Here pickey pickey pickey ... lol.
Did you see that, Ladyandalure ?

Bloody kiwi's :)...Taking our jobs and our dole money :)...Not to mention our fish :)...I even heard of one taking an Aussie bride once :) (I think she was returned for refund cos she didn't qualify for the dole) :)....

In all seriousness, Mark is not a bad bloke...Even if he is the only one with partially working smiley faces :)...Or as he puts it "silime"...which of course reads "silly me" :)

No, really, Mark is doing a great job. All jokes aside. He is a top bloke in my books and I have never met him...I am just glad that he paddles a kayak cos I would hate to see him in a row boat where he would have to paddle backwards :) :)

Oh...my bad...I said "all jokes aside" and then made a joke....Now what do I do? I know, I will use a smiley or two :) :):):):)

Ha, ha, ha....I kill myself sometimes...and sometimes other people wish I did...:) :) :)

EDIT: Oh Mark said "simile". Oh we3ll one good typo deserves another I reckon. :) :) :)
YOU are too funny itsaboat ! It's nice to see and Aussie and a Kiwi bantering back and forth ! I with I had that type of camaraderie here. I fish on my own,... my "worse half" for 27 yrs. for the marina beside our house on Kahshe Lake. The last thing he wants to do after work is go back out on the lake. I have learned how to fillet fish boneless, do my own repairs and maintenance on my motor... (another one of those things a marine mechanic hates to do after work.  Same thing goes for fixing my sled to go ice fishing.:D ! I do have friends who fish, but of course, they won't take a woman.... it takes up
"precious time" to go to shore when I have to pee. :sideways:  lol !    Being innovative, I made myself a "pop up" privacy screen to use with a bucket when I do have to pee !  It's used winter and summer.

Of course my fishing friends and I yak about fish we've caught... but naturally (joking here, maybe just a jab at men in general).. the stories about the fish they caught grow an inch or two every time they're told !

SEE ! EVEN A WOMAN CAN BANTER AND GET A FEW JABS IN NOW AND THEN !  lol
Oh... and by the way Mark... my smilies work better than yours !!   lol again!

Till our next encounter,  happy fishing....keep the line tight... ( with a monster fish on the other end ! )  :D

This is an outrage...Well It would be, if I were not the only one raging outwardly :)

Some people might even see this as an INrage...It could even be a fishing rage - In Da Net Rage - ON line Rage...Oh some one stop me...It's a phishing scam...This is baited...It is scaled on one side...It is weighted...Oh please, some one stop me :)

So Admin and female type humans get smiley faces...Whilst us mere mortals that have to catch all the fish so that lesser mortals can eat, are stuck with square sponge bob faces...:) :) :)

No wonder your mere mortal male fishing mates demanded you erect a tent on the deck to take a pee....You have stolen all the smiley faces !! :) :) :)
STOLEN all the SIMILE faces! That's an outright fabrication!..... (just like most MEN'S fishing tales.)
I have only just begun dear sir.   I'll have to use more, now that I know I can irritate you with them.  That's what we intelligent gender do best !:silly::O:blink:    BTW... I 'fess, I may have stolen SOME,... cuz I have yours too! lol:P;)8-)

Now it's off to catch some monster pickerel... maybe you call them walleye... or wallaby's  lol:'(
Just checked my post. Now all my yellow similes are gone!  They're plain... just like yours. Someone has stolen MY smilies!
Now I'M outraged! Was the culprit Mark by chance !?!?!?!:ermm:
o no :silly:

the yellow ones have a life of their own. Seems I'm unable to tame them.
They just appear whenever they want to :O
Dearest Mark:

Yet another fishing fabrication !?!?!:O
Hi Ladyandlure! I am Arun and I have come to Toronto to visit my Daughter, who stays at Toronto. I am a passionate Angler and wish to try fishing in Ontario. I have obtained a Fishing License and We are planning to visit Muscoka Lake near Gravenhurst on 18 and 19 September. Is it a good place to fish from shore? Or we should have Boat to fish there? Can you suggest some other lakes near Gravenhurst?           Looking forward to your reply.           Best Regards,                                   Arun
Hi Arun !

Any gvt. dock will provide you with decent fishing. Most lakes have pike, bass, perch and pickerel. Some have crappie as well.
Some good sized pike have been caught off of the docks.  I wish you lucky fishing !:D
