time for a new fishing kayak

Looks like it's time to say good by to my good old 2006 hobie outback.
I love this kayak and the freedom of pedaling around and having the hands free for trolling and using gadgets.
But I decided that I want a kayak for longer distances. The hobie is great for fishing but not the best touring kayak in my opinion.
So I'm thinking of getting a used prowler ultra 4.1 ocean kayak instead.
I want to feel more confident when paddling very long distances and not having to think about possible equipment failures. If you pedal too far out with a hobie and the drive breaks for some reason it would be quite difficult to get back - especially in rough conditions.
Also I wan't something that lasts. While hobie kayaks are awesome, they have lots of parts that can easily wear out and break. An ocean prowler kayak should last forever (fingers crossed).
I also like the cockpit, designed especially for fishing and the fact that you can install a fish finder transducer directly into a scupper hole that's designed for that purpose.
I know I'll hugely miss my hobie, but I'm also looking forward to a new fishing experience and to paddling instead of pedaling. For some reason when paddling I feel a bit more like an ancient hunter on the water. 😛
There are a few different sizes available for the ocean kayak ultra prowler series.
But since I drive a van and I wan't to fit the kayak into the back of the van, I'm going for the shortest one. The hobie is 3.7 meters and fits nicely. The smallest prowler is 4.1 meters and I hope it will still fit inside.
