catching spawning bass

I live in shreveport louisiana and I have the red river and several area lakes. Can somone please tell me HOW TO CATCH SPAWNING BASS they have have been very hard to catch and I have tried everything I know to do. Thanks.

Try a Gitzit you will have to play around with the weight--I tend to use ice fishing jigs for the weight they are small you just slide the jig up the gitzit then bite a small hole for the line eye and they cause the lure to go down in a swimming motion you just have to play around with it--keep in mind when they are spawning they are more apt to ignore lures but if you keep jigging they will strike out of anger--so keep presenting jigs and even spinnerbaits to them till you get a strike.
I have a lot of luck pitching soft plastic stick baits (think Senko) right on top of the nests in the spring. I'm usually after crappie in the spring, but if I'm having a rough day and don't want to get skunked, that's my #1 go-to. My #2 is Stanley Ribbits, rigged with EWG worm hook. buzz, then pause over the nest. Frogs eat bass eggs, so the spawning bass hit to protect the nest.
