It would be nice if people who post photos gave details of location where fish caught. Needn’t be specific even just State would be nice

It is never going to happen. Most people just don't feel the need to or just don't like to make comments. We have tens of 1,000's of members and users. I mean almost 20,000 have clicked the "like" button alone. The amount of people that actually contribute with photos and forum comments is very, very small compared to the number of readers and members. But that is human nature...that is the internet.

Just enjoy the photos. You will find that most people will be happy to say exact location if you ask them.

Hi,
I caught the Snapper in the photo off the coast of South Australia out from Deep Creek.

Just thought that if people are kind enough to post a photo it wouldn’t be too much extra trouble to give rough location. Knowing someone caught a big salmon at Waitpinga would immediately inspire me to get my rod out and would also add weight to my request to “go fishing” from hwmbo.

I agree with you. But people are just not like that.

A lot of people post photos just so their friends and family can see. People have all sorts of reasons why they post a photo and not want to make any comment. Lots of reasons, it could be just that other web sites like Face Book for example are less safe. Compared to other sites FR is safe and friendly.

For example, a person has posted the same photo 3 years in a row, at the same time each year (almost to the exact day). But the past 2 years nothing. This person has his reasons for posting the same photo 3 years in a row. Bit strange and a bit creepy but there was no harm done. Maybe the person in the photo was killed and he was posting it as a tribute...we don't know.

Having said that. Although a lot of people post photos and for what ever reason don't want to make any comment. Most people are simply proud of their catch and want to share it with all of us and are very happy to comment if you ask them

OK. Thanks nice to get some sensible feedback. Things you just don’t think about when all you want is a friendly chat.

Haha...Yes it is a colourful world

Check this out - https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/leeton/miscellaneous-goods/for-sales/1193144382

I have been saying for years, if you want to see what people are really like just look on Gumtree....Sometimes there might not be a reason, sometimes it might be that the person does not have a reason, sometimes the person might be the reason !!

Just enjoy the photos and post and comment as much you you like. But if you don't get a reply don't worry about it. Most people will reply if you ask them...Then at the other end of the scale we have Sam

No offense intended Sam (if you happen to read this) but you did post this ad on Gumtree, not me. You cannot seriously post such an ad and not expect public comment

The above link will expire in a few weeks...so here is a screen shot to keep us "enlightened" for years to come -

For those not able to see the screen shot...It says and I quote

Title - For sales
Price - $12,000 negotiable
Item description - Good condition

end quote.

I am not saying anything about Sam, I am sure he (or she, Sam could be a she), is quite happy with their Gumtree ad...I just wonder what on Earth it is that he (or she) is trying to sell !!! Sam didn't post a photo with the ad, so your guess is as good as mine as to what the item is...It might be a car or maybe a boat, maybe a caravan or maybe he is selling his wife. Now there is a thought, if she really is in good condition $12,000 Neg might be worth at least taking a look

When you think about it, we are pretty lucky here. Sure, we get a ratbag from time to time but all in all things are good. All the members here are great...even Mark is OK (most of the time)

At least everyone here knows how to catch a fish and post a photo !! Things could be worse

Are you targeting any fish or just Snapper? Are Salmon trout on your scope? or Bream.
How for would you travel?

Would love some spots where I could catch a Snapper from the shore but happy with anything that is edible and can be caught from shore. Tommies Are my favourite for eating. At moment confined to 50 km or so from the Island.

I just got back from catching a dozen Tommies at Port Elliot off the pier near the SLSC. Used Maggots for bait and they love em. Buy them at the BP servo. They are only small but I still fillet them.
I don't mind showing you and taking bait there. I may go there again tomorrow afternoon depending on what time I finish work if your interested.
can fill you in on a couple of other spots for Snapper.
