Hello from Los Angeles

Hi, my name is Dana Wilburn
and I live in Lawndale, Ca.,
a suburb of Los Angeles near
the ocean in the Southbay.

I fish both Salt and Freshwater,
primarily Saltwater surf fishing
and Kayak fishing 😊

I surf fish SoCal style with
light line (6 to 12lb test) using
Salmon/Steelhead rods, and a custom
wrapped fly rod blank with spinning
reel grips.

Fish caught in the surf are Barred surf perch,
Yellow Fin Croakers, Corbina, Halibut,
Leopard Sharks, Spotfin croaker,
White Seabass, the occasional Striper,
plus a long list of others I can't fit
in this post.

This site looks like it will be
very useful for timing my fishing
2 be more productive B)

Hi Bluez2move

Welcome to fishingreminder.
Glad to have another kayak enthusiast on board ;-)
What kind of fishing kayak do you use?

Never heard of the SoCal surf fishing style?
Stands for South California I suppose...

I normally fish with light tackle too.
What kind of bait do you use for surfcasting with the ligth gear?

I fish from my Cobra Tourer,
and as for SoCal style I meant
as opposed to the traditional
surfcasting 12ft pole w/20lb +
line 😉 I guess it's not
exclusive 2 SoCal.

I use primarily artificial
lures, Lucky Craft's, Krocs,
swimbaits, Gulp Jerk shads
and others on a Drop shot B)
Hi bluez2move

I moved your other post to the fishing reports forum.

I'm quite interested in trying some surf fishing with soft baits.
I also got a drop shot rod that I use for kayak fishing.

Do you normally move around a lot at the beach or do you fish the same spot.
How heavy are your jig heads and what is your line capacity?
