finding the G spot

qwerty says:
Been having a look on the net on any information on how to find deep spots or holes in estuary's?
Is there any way of telling how deep the water is when you are fishing from the shore banks?
have heard you can tell by looking at the surface of the water, (rippled) or (smooth) surface arias? is there any truth in this?

can anyone shed some light on this problem i have, would be much appreciated thanks.

Of course, if you on a river and there is no wind, where the white water is it is very shallow, calm is the pools before the rapids.. Fish the edge of the rapids and pools for good fish.. Big 1's sit just at front of rapids
Thanks for clearing that up, do most of my fishing off the banks and a bit frustrating landing only little bream and thread-fin salmon. Only big fish i have been catching off the banks are flat-heads but not the most exiting/fighting fish. So hoping your advise will provide some better results!

once again thank you
Google maps satellite you can see the shoals and ridges in lakes and inshore.
