Hello all.
I troll with 32 feet of line released behind my boat for saugeye, catfish, crappie, whitebass, and even a largemouth bass once in a while. yesterday I caught 2 with 25' of line released while trolling 3 mph via gps. Shortline trolling for shallow water fish. Linecounter reels mounted on salmon and trolling rods. The salmon rods make a huge difference.
My lake ,"Indian Lake", only averages 6' in depth and is usually murky. The shallow muddy/murkiness makes for perfect conditions for saugeye. It's also stumpy. I also run dual planerboards if conditions allow me. The line released behind the boards is only 24' out. Bomber Model A B02's and Bandit 100 series are my weapons. Today,I couldn't keep the channelcats from tearing up my crankbaits.Even nailed a 4 lb flattie with my shortline tactics. No keeper saugeye today, but 3 white bass and a 13" crappie will suffice.
