Dubai: Police say they found the body of a 50-year-old Filipino man washed up on rocks on Wednesday at 6.30am near Jebel Ali Port.

The victim was fishing on the beach with two companions and using nets when strong waves and wind pulled him and his net into the water. Captain Yahya Mohammad, head of sea rescue at the Dubai Police Rescue Department, said: "The victim did not know how to swim, and he was fishing during dangerous weather.

"The incident occurred on Tuesday between 6 and 6.30pm, but we received the complaint around 8pm because his friends took time looking for him."

The incident occurred in Jebel Ali between Dubal and Dugas. The rescue team searched throughout the night. Dubai Police warned the public against going into the sea or to the beach during stormy weather.
