MURKY CONDITION ON SALTWATER BEACH

Hingol says:
Fishing from the Rock two weeks back before the rains was quite productive by taking home two Queenies and a few Trivalli. Last weekend, the water was quite Murky. Absolutely no luck at all except two seasnakes and tso small fish all thrown back in the sea.

On the following weekend, the time, 5:00am at the spot was right by Fishreminder also showing the day as one of the better days to fish. I guess that the only negative factor was the water being Murky.

Can someone please advice how to cope with Murky Water Conditions  enabling a better catch?

Shiny metal lures still work in murky water. So too does live bait.

If the water is murky from rain there might be stuff in the water affecting the fish...Pollution, crop fertiliser, etc.

You could try using "smelly" bait, instead of lures. Not stinky bait, just smelly bait. Baits that fish can smell like the good old prawn or cubes of tuna.

But really, if the water is murky from rain, you are probably better off just waiting till the water clears.
Have you ever tried spraying lures with wd-40? Do you think if it works?
I have heard of it...It does NOT work !!

I do not recommend the use of any such spays on lures...For rods, reels etc, I use CRC Tackle Guard (and if CRC want to throw some dollars at me I might have more to say :):)).

There are lots of commercial "scent" additives for lures. Some work and some don't....WD40 is not one of them !!

You can make your own...I do !!

You need a bucket and a sieve and a bag of salt. You could just use some fly screen (fibreglass not aluminum). Put the sieve on the bucket, make sure it fits. Then into the sieve put any scraps of fishy things you have...prawn heads and shells, fish pieces etc. (fish guts are not good but fish offal like roe, heart, liver, gills etc is). Cover with salt and leave for a few days. The salt will draw out all the moisture and oils which will collect in the bucket. You then have a liquid dipping sauce for your lures...and the dried out salted pieces can be used for bait 😊
Great. Thanks for the recipe.
