Crappie fishing

Hello, this is Stu from central Florida, where fishing lakes number in the 100's.
October is finally here and the weather is about to change for the best as far as Crappie fishing is concerned. And I can not wait to begin the hunt for this seasons slab Crappie. Sure we will have plenty for the table. But the memories of a 3 lb. plus Crappie picture on the wall would do wonders in my bar. My fishing buddy Dave and I will enjoy every minute we can spend on the water as the two of us have surpassed a 130 years combined in age. Wishing tight lines to all and remember, safety first always.

Hi Stu

Good luck with the crappie fishing!

I'm planning to visit florida march or april.
How is the fishing at that time of year?

Is there any good fishing accessible without boat?

happy fishing
Mark

Hello Mark,

Any month is a great month to fish in Florida. Depending on the variety or specie there are better times than others. March is a great month for Bass because they are still bedding in march. That usually is in shallow water and accessible without a boat. Many lakes and the St. Johns river are accessible without a boat. Typically the first few hours at sunrise and before sunset are the best fishing times. The Florida Fish and Wildlife website will give locations of public ramps and fishing areas from the shoreline. Or locate a bait shop online near where you will be staying. They can tell you where to go to fish via from land or with boat rentals. And if you want to land a trophy bass there are dozens of excellent guide services that can do just that. It is a great way to insure the best fishing experience with vacation time restraints. And if you want to fish the surf or from a pier along the coast there are many locations, east or west coast. Many piers will have bait shops and will gladly help make your day productive.
It all depends on the amount of time you are vacationing and the hours you are willing to spend fishing. I would be happy to help in many of these alternatives when you can tell me the location of your stay. Feel free to contact me again if I can assist.
Regards and tight lines,,,,  Stu

In Florida the crappie can be difficult to locate during the warmer months. That is why crappie fisherman can not wait for cooler weather months to get here. Plus during those cooler months the crappie begin bedding and are much easier to locate. So, beginning in as early as October thru March crappie lovers in Florida are out in force.
