My self - palmerston north

Hi everyone,Guess i should have done this from the start lol.
My name is Karl, have been fishing for about 15 yrs now, used to do a lot of hunting and tramping from the age of 14,as soon as i turned 16 went and got my firearms license and then spent almost every w/end bush,as i got a bit older and after a back injury had to look for a more passive type of out door sport, thats when i got into the fishing, mainly land based, used to go out in the boat a bit with a brother inlaw untill the boat was sold.My other passion is Power Boat Racing,my family has been involved in this motor sport all my life, now the race season is at an end am looking at getting out for a fish a bit more often. Unfortunately my little race boat cant be used as a fishing boat lol.Im living in Palmerston North,North Island, New Zealand.
Would like to get in contact with a few guys/gals in the Palmy area for some local fishing events, have been going out to Scotts Ferry, out from Bulls, but no luck out there as yet...My wife and the daughter enjoy the fishing aswell so that's a bonus lol
Cheers all.

hi mate

thanks for the intro. Always great to hear from other members and what they are up to 😊 Someone else has been uploading pictures from their catches at scotts ferry. Seems like night time is the way to go. Is winter a productive fishing time down there?

Not sure if your back injury would allow you to kayak. But that's a great way to fish actively. Might be a bit difficult to launch at the west coast though.

cheers
Hi Mal from Feilding ..I'm Allan X Palmy North I used to go camping and fishing out thereon the other
side of the Rangitiikei, beautiful Kawhai running into the river mouth Great fun around dusk with a beach fire going and a good hot plate over the fire.. freshly caught Kawhai cooked gutted but still whole plenty of butter with peper & salt Yumm mouth still waters !!!!!
Scotts Fairey on the North side of the Rangitikei River that flows from Waiouru Ruapehu down the Valley past Hunterville then Bulls and Ohakea Air Force Base and out to sea on the West Coast, a fantastic place I used to take my 22 foot selfcontained Caravan to from Palmy North and spend the weekend spin casting in the mouth of the river for Kawhai running in from the sea... magnificent sport and of course preparing some for the smoker ..the evenings here are really masgic at Sunset which is the best time to spin cast and play the fighting Kawhai to the River Shore finally scoop netting in about 3 feet of river fresh water ... Any body else have a reminisce of this area ?????
