My Self Intro from Allfish - Auckland New Zealand

AllFish says:
Hello Everybody,
Well now where do I start .. 'Me' I love sea fishing 'cause you never know what you might catch !!!
Last Trip out yesterday 31/04/2014.. fished out the tide out in the Hauraki Golf ... caught Schnapper, Kawai, Gurnard.. AND.. caught lots that were well undersize ..!! Of course returning them to the sea .. ALIVE and with a message to tell their parents we would like to meet them .. I don't think the message got through !!!! Cause we came home with only three Schnapper , two Kawai and one Gurnard all over the catchable size and will be on the dinner plate tonite !!!! The Kawai is most delicious smoked and that will become Fish Pie OR just Smoked Kawai boiled in milk with Leeks and thickened to become Kawai-Leeks in white sauce ... Yummy.. served with nice garlic-cheese mashed potato and peas. 😊
Last trip before, we caught quite a few more fish of a mixed varity just about a full catch for three which kept the freezer full for quite while .....
Well how was that for an intro ??? Comments wecome ....
Regards All ... Allfish.

Hi Allfish

Welcome to the forum.
I'm surprised you already got some Gurnard. Thought the season is mostly in winter.

I must try your kahawai leek dish. That sounds really good.

My problem is that I have smoked so much fish, that I can't eat smoked stuff anymore.
Not even smoked meat or cheese. 😖
I guess I could just fry or bake the kahawai and then make a leek and milk sauce.
Maybe add some white wine as well.

Have you seen any kingfish around?
I'm on a mission to catch one from my kayak. But can't find any in paddling distance - only get snapper and kahawai whenever I go out.

cheers
Mark
might have to give smoking another go - maybe I can eat it again by now :-)
Haven't seen any sharks from my kayak so far. I'm sure they are there - but i use only softbaits and no berley to not attract any of those unwanted visitors.

Have seen Orkas quite a few times pretty close by. That was amazing.

Kawa Kawa Bay is one of the best fishing spots around Auckland i'd say.
My goto spot in winter. I find it especially good on low tide. Good to know that there are some Gurnards around already. Might try and catch one next time ;-)

Not sure about scollop beds. Would like to know as well ;-)

Cheers
Yes Markt,
A little white wine in with the leek sauce for the smoked Kahawai dish would set it of really well .. Dish For A KING !!!!
My mate went out again last Thursday with nother mate and they got 12 good size schnapper off the Motutapu Island just past the protected area .. good fishing just about into the channel....unfortuntely he is back at work now with the AHB container Wharf as a diesel machanic servicing the container loaders and crains... he had aweek off as he changed jobs from Cough Cough & Hammer. Less stress now !!!! Don't forget Mrkt if you hear of the scollops moving into the Waitimata would love to know where !!!! I doknow there are sme good beds in the Manukau over by the Western Shores bout 1/2 mile out.. GOOD size ones too ...
heers Al.
Have ou fished the Manukau at all Markt????
