Any fish in the Auckland Harbour these days?

markt says:
Just wondering if anyone had much luck recently.

Been out to Eastern Beach, Musick point, St Heliers Bastion Reef and the Tamaki River entrance.
But can only report very limited success.

Very few bites and mainly reluctant nibbles from undersized snappers on my softies. 😖
Starting to wonder if it's just a crappy season this year or is it just me having bad luck?

Would be interesting to hear what others are experiencing.

Is the Old ICI Wharf the newly developed Waikawa Regional Park ??? If it is it's just FANTASTIC off the old wharf there .............the beach is lovely or simming too BUT NO Surf Life Savers on duty at all... Great place for Mobile CARAVAN Night stop overs too .. allthough entry is quite a narrow road all tarsealed and a little steep. CAUTION NEEDED !! Well worth the effort.
Regards Allfish.
yeah this new Waikawa Regional Park is really nice. I went there a couple days ago and checked it out. Nice new facilities and lots of space.

Launched my kayak of the beach and paddled over to the islands.
Caught a few nice snapper. Biggest one was 48 cm. Just near the small island with the sand mine.

Seen quite a few people fishing off the wharf that day.
It's a great land based spot. I actually caught a few snapper off this wharf a few years back, before I started kayak fishing. Then it suddenly was completely closed to the public.

Really glad it's open now and they made such a nice regional park in this area.
Just wish they would make a campground as well.

cheers
