I AM NEW HERE!

I have always loved to fish, but always did so very casually. I am trying to get more serious about it now. My research on the subject led me to this site. I am curious to know how accurate the recommended fishing times on this site are. Can anyone tell me?

I just started fishing this year a few days ago. My second time out I caught an 18 inch largemouth bass. The spot I was fishing was new to me. I could see through the water what appeared to be large schools of fish of comparable size to the one I caught. I have gone back a couple times, but no luck catching any more big ones. I caught the bass using both a nightcrawler and a bass minnow while fishing near the bottom. I really don't have any experience using artificial bait or lures, but would I be luckier with those? If so, please recommend something to me! It is driving me crazy watching those big fish swim right by my line!!

Good luck to everyone this year! I look forward to reading your fishing stories and tips and seeing your pictures! I'll try to post some soon myself!

Can anyone instruct me how to add my picture and info to my profile? I can't figure it out. Thanks!
Hi Ladyfisher#1, What state and area are you fishing?. River or lake? Sounds like you had a bit of luck with a big largemouth bass. You could probably use
a nice crank bait (those are the ones with the clear plastic lip on the front)
in a crawdad pattern. The largemouth are starting to spawn this time of year and the crawfish try to eat the eggs. So largemouth are very aggressive with crawfish
this time of year. The crankbaits will normally float and dive when you retrieve them, you can also use a yum (brand) crawbug it will sink and you just twitch it
accross the bottom to retrieve it. either of these should work in a river or a lake. You need to use the tabs on the page that says profile to enter your local
and picture and any other info you want in there. Nice to have you aboard and good luck ! Of course you are required to post pictures of anything you land.
Be sure to watch the fillet tutorial on this site.!!B) By the way......its pretty
accurate !!
I use a crankbait that dives 1-3ft to cover a lot of water...once I find the fish ill switch between a plastic worm(strawberry scent)..
Thanks for the tip! Even though I caught a largemouth bass at that location, it turns out the other big fish I saw there were buffalo carp. I'm still trying to find a good fishing spot I can fish from the shore this spring, since I don't have a boat. Good luck to you!
