Hi all,
I live in Mahahual, Mexico which is a little town about 110 miles north of Chetumal which is the capital city of the State of Quintana Roo. I have fished a lot of the tournaments down here starting about 2006 and my team has won 2 pickup trucks , a dodge Journey, and a motorcycle which none of our wives would let us drive. LOL I just bought a 25 ft. panga which is a style of boat commonly used for fishing down here. My wife asked me if I was happy now and I told her I will be as soon as I buy the equipment need to rig it for fishing. She asked me like what?, and I foolishly told her. Combo GPS and fish finder and the chip for central and south America, outriggers, downriggers, 4 more rod holders, rocket launcher, new fenders, anchor roller, etc...... The next thing I knew she was locked in the bedroom crying. It didn't seem to matter to her that I got a really good deal on the boat. She thought we would be using the boat for picnics inside the reef. My neighbor invited me fishing last Saturday on his boat and he told me that since I was his guest I could take the first strike. Something hit a plastic on the right downrigger at about 65 ft. Wahoo or Barracuda everyone said. About 30 yards out it jumped and we were all amazed!! It was a Dorado! Most people know it as Mahi Mahi. Very unusual in September. Anyway I will be posting a lot of pics and we have a Wahoo tournament coming up in November so wish me luck.
