Looks like a sole or flatfish of some kind probably great table fare would it be too cliche to say "good on ya mate"

thanks mate :-) looks a bit like a flat fish but actually it isn't. Its quite a weird looking bony fish. The best table fish you can get here in New Zealand. Bit hard to catch though - gotta be lucky. Normally they only go for live baits - but this one fell for a soft bait :-) They got huge extendable soft mouths to swallow small fish.
