Used to think that way also but heard of guys heading out overnight and landing a good kingi lately. It was on a near full moon. Maybe that's enough light? Not safe in a kayak but from the beach or boat, you never know. i guess on a quiet night you would be able to hear any king chasing bait out of the water anyway and if you haven't heard that perhaps the chances are slim?

Next time I will take sliders with never know aye might get lucky thanks for the advice
