Absolutely! It was the first time for me! Actually, I couldn't have pulled this monster with a rod and a reel out of the water. Handline was easier and quicker to get him out of the water. 😂

Please start a channel on Rumble. I fired YT after it repeatedly breached my terms of patronage. Keen to learn why the king couldn't have been landed with rod and reel. Especially condisering I don't think you've enjoyed the benefits of the 1:1 'gear ratio' of an Alvey, which is essentially just a handline on a center-pin.

The hand line I used had no reel('a centre pin). I purely pull the line. I felt like it is easier than a rod and a real.

First time I heard of Rumble, OMG yet another social media video platform, LOL Bu managing a Youtube, a Tiktok and an Instagram account is already overwhelming enough. My brain can't deal with any more platforms at the moment :)

The kingie could have easily been landed with rod and reel but it was so much more fun on a hand line as we haven't done that before. We met up with a local YouTuber ( Weka Digital Media NZ ) and he is a Pro catching them on a handline. Next time we'll try with an Alvey :)

Yeah, it's crazy how many platforms are out there. Rumble doesn't censor. YT can kiss my donkey. dazzling79, I'm not surprised you found the line retrieval easier with a handline. That's because it is. Ever watched them pulling line down towards the reel by hand, when fighting big fish like marlin and tuna? Even the 'low' geared two speed game reels don't have a ratio as low as the 1:1 of an Alvey. I can send you one to try to see what I mean. On a regular reel we have to pump the rod and wind the reel on the downstroke. almost no need to do that with an Alvey reel. Just wind, no pumping of the rod. the gearing is as low as it can go - almost as easy as a handline.

One of the growing list of to-do's is to paddle out on my surfboard with a handline and convert a livie to a kingi. It sure sounds like fun with a capital F no matter how it ends up.

HANDLINE????? F#@*KKKKKKKKKKK ME!! WOW!!! You sure must have some hard core wrist strength and a grade lines, oops, I meant line!!! That's a mad catch, did anyone with u get to film any of the catch... that'd be mad to watch!!! Thanks for posting that, even though I'm filthy jealous, (jokes), you've got me excited, 'reely' you have.. apparently in 3 days there will be fish in Frankston!!?????!! LOL.. doubt it, last time I went fishing off the internet's advice the only thing I caught was a young dude, high as a kite, who had lost his seeing glasses and his way, literally he didn't even know why he was at the pier!!! or how he'd got back from the snoop dogg concert in the city!!??!! ANYWAY, made sure he was safe, took him under my wing, and got ONE bite in 8 hours...😭🤣😆😆😅😂🤣😆😉.. better luck 4 me next time hey??? Peace out people and fair fishing to ALL... G1✌💚💡
